DCM – Good afternoon and welcome to the new GSR's attending, and thank you to all past members of the committee for staying active in service.
I attended the service weekend in Marshalltown last weekend and was glad to see several GSR's from District 13 in attendance. I hope you learned something about the purpose and responsibilities of your position as your Group Service Representative as well as the service structure of Alcoholics Anonymous on Saturday. I know these weekends can seem somewhat tedious, but a great deal of information is also presented that I have found useful as I fulfilled my service position.
On Sunday I attended the Area 24 committee business meeting. It went as follows:
1. 1. Area chair to form committee to check into putting fliers for group & district events on the Area website.
2. Bids for Area 24's 2010 spring conference were presented by District 2 (Buena Vista College) and District 9 (Davenport Clarion). District 2 was chosen.
3. Motion to add Spanish speaking statewide district District #22 to the area service structure. Passed.
4. Motion to set aside $1,200.00 for committee to investigate purchasing equipment (transmitter and headphones) for translating at Area functions and employing a translation service. Passed
5. Area chair to form a committee to look into Area 24's tax status.
6. Motion to allow Area delegate an extra 45 minutes a the Spring Conference to report on the General Service Conference. To be Saturday morning 8:30-11:45. Passed.
7. 1st order of business at the Spring Assembly to change the conference guidelines to allow this change. Tabled to Spring Conference
8. Reimburse past delegate Mike M $16.50 to mail Jan P's resume for the delegate at large to GSO. Passed.
9. Motion to form committee to revise guidelines addressing whi's responsible to pay for coffee, tapus (?) rooms, room reservations for speakers - District putting on Conference or Area.

GSR reports:
Blue Noon: Peter H. At out 18 December group conscience meeting we passed the following resolution: (11 for, none against, 1 abstention)
Resolved: That the General Service Conference direct the General Service Board to assemble the best available information regarding the implications for AA of the new widely prescribed anti-depressants and other psychoactive drugs (such as Prosac, Paxil, Xanax, Wellbutrin, Ritalin, and many others) and make this information available to groups.
We want accurate information about the drugs available to our members
Suicide Risk
Pamphlet P-11, “The AA Member Medications and Other Drugs” is badly out of date.

Lost and Found : Attendance is small but steady. New meeting Wed. evening 10:30. Concerns about advertising for events sponsored by the L&F Club. Michelle VS
Melrose Group: No GSR
Midwest Group: Tom F I attended the Area 24 GSR Workshop rfor the Midwest Pacific Group in Marshalltown, IA on January 17. This was my first tiem as a GSR and found the workshop very informative. What I found helpful was previous or current GSR's walked through what the roll of a GSR is and is not. They provided literature on the subject, their experience and contact information for the Area 24 group. There was also discussion about Group Inventories which I found interesting. Being new I just wanted to get a feel for the process so I did not participate in the questions. I was able to talk and meet other GSR's and get to know them. I am looking forward to carrying AA's Singleness of Purpose – to carry its message to the alcoholic who still suffers to the best of my ability.
Opossum Lodge Group: Come join in for chili by the fire until the end of February JC
Recovery Group. Bryan A gave a verbal report.
